TDK in Canada
Trusted Positioning, a TDK Group Company, traces its roots back to 2009 when it was established as Trusted Positioning Inc by a group of PhD graduates from the University of Calgary. These visionary individuals came together due to their groundbreaking research on MEMS for positioning. In 2014, Trusted Positioning was acquired by InvenSense and later became part of the TDK Family in 2017 when InvenSense was acquired by TDK.
Situated in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, TDK’s Trusted Positioning business unit consists of a world-class team specializing in solving complex positioning challenges. Our expertise spans inertial navigation, dynamic motion mechanics, geomagnetic positioning, GNSS, BLE, Wi-Fi, and other wireless positioning techniques.
TDK Trusted Positioning offers a range of software products to address positioning needs, including TRACK, RIDE, AUTO, and VENUE. TRACK and RIDE software operate on a customer’s application processor, delivering automotive and 2-wheeled vehicle positioning in GNSS-challenged areas. The advanced AUTO product enhances TRACK, providing significantly improved accuracy, with optional perception sensors for decimeter positioning. VENUE, on the other hand, is a SaaS solution designed for indoor positioning in diverse settings such as offices, factories, warehouses, construction sites, and medical facilities, enabling precise tracking of people, assets, and indoor vehicles.
The backbone of our technology solutions lies in inertial sensors, which are always-on and provide continuous and reliable positioning information everywhere. By combining these sensors with other absolute sources like geomagnetic or wireless signals, Trusted Positioning achieves accurate and cost-effective positioning in all environments. Recognizing that no single location technology can offer precise and reliable location information in all scenarios, the company collects data from all available sources to filter out erroneous measurements and determine the most accurate position.
